Description
AA 2009 is an aluminum-copper alloy reinforced with silicon carbide (SiC) particles to form a metal matrix composite (MMC), typically in the T4 or T351 temper. The SiC reinforcement significantly increases stiffness, hardness, and wear resistance while maintaining the high strength of the 2xxx base alloy. It is primarily used in aerospace structural components, electronic packaging substrates, and precision optical mounts.
