Description
AA 5556 is a high-strength aluminum-magnesium welding filler alloy (4.7–5.5% Mg) designed to provide weld joints in 5xxx-series structures with strength matching or exceeding that of the base metal. It offers excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments and good ductility in as-welded condition. Applications include welding filler wire for shipbuilding, LNG storage vessels, cryogenic tanks, and structural marine fabrications.
