Description
AA 2024 is the most widely used aluminum-copper alloy, containing 3.8–4.9% copper with magnesium and manganese additions, achieving very high strength through T3 or T351 temper heat treatment. It offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and good fatigue resistance, though it is susceptible to stress corrosion cracking in certain environments. The alloy is the primary material for aircraft fuselage skins, wings, and structural frames.
