Overview
AA 5086 is a marine-grade aluminium–magnesium alloy (3.5–4.5% Mg) that sits between 5052 and 5083 in strength while offering excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and the atmosphere. Non-heat-treatable, it develops good mechanical properties by cold working and welds readily. It is used for small boat hulls, ship superstructures, pressure vessels, and other marine structural parts.
