Description
AA 5182 is an aluminum-magnesium alloy (4.0–5.0% Mg) specifically optimized for the automotive body sheet and beverage can end stock markets, providing a combination of high formability, moderate strength, and excellent surface quality. It exhibits Portevin-Le Chatelier (PLC) effect suppression important for lüders band-free forming, and outstanding resistance to corrosion. The alloy dominates production of aluminum beverage can ends (lids) due to its scored-opening performance.
