Description
DIN EN 1.4305 stainless steel (X8CrNiS18-9 material) is an European standard austenitic corrosion resisting material with sulfur added to improve cutting performance, but its corrosion resistance is limited in acid and chloride media, when used in these media, pitting or cavity corrosion can occur. X8CrNiS18-9 steel forms short chips during cutting and is therefore particularly suitable for machining. Due to material properties, this stainless steel is also known as free-cutting steel. Compared to 1.4301 material, DIN 1.4305 V2A has a higher sulfur content and contains 1.0% copper.
