This complex concentrated alloy (CCA) with nominal composition Al1 Hf1 Nb1 Ta1 Ti1 Zr1 is a dual FCC/BCC phase alloy system within the multi-principal element alloy research space, incorporating Al, Hf, Nb and 3 additional elements. Key properties include very high melting point (>1800°C), excellent high-temperature strength retention, and good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures; titanium additions promote intermetallic precipitation for additional strengthening. Investigated applications include high-temperature structural applications, advanced gas turbine components, nuclear energy systems, and refractory coating materials.
