Heat Treatment
Definition
Eine Wärmebehandlung, bei der ein Metall auf eine bestimmte Temperatur erwärmt, dort eine festgelegte Zeit gehalten und anschließend langsam, meist im Ofen, abgekühlt wird. Ziel sind eine geringere Härte, der Abbau von Eigenspannungen und eine höhere Duktilität.
Detaillierte Erklärung
Beim vollständigen Glühen von Stahl wird über die obere Umwandlungstemperatur Ac3 erwärmt und langsam abgekühlt, sodass weicher, grober Perlit beziehungsweise ein Ferrit-Perlit-Gefüge entsteht. Das Zwischenglühen unterhalb von Ac1 dient dazu, kaltverformten Metallen über die Rekristallisation ihre Duktilität zurückzugeben. In mehrstufigen Zieh- und Walzprozessen ist es unverzichtbar, um die Umformbarkeit zwischen den Stufen wiederherzustellen.
