Definition
Also called Young's modulus, it is the ratio of stress to strain in the elastic (reversible) deformation region of a material, representing its stiffness. It is expressed in GPa.

Steel has an elastic modulus of approximately 200 GPa, while aluminum is about 70 GPa and titanium around 110 GPa. The value is largely insensitive to heat treatment or alloying additions within a given metal family, making it a fixed material constant for structural calculations. A higher modulus means less deflection under a given load.
