This medium-entropy alloy (MEA) with nominal composition Nb0.333 Ta0.667 Ti0.667 Zr1 is a predominantly face-centered cubic (FCC) austenitic alloy system within the multi-principal element alloy research space, incorporating niobium, tantalum, titanium, and zirconium. Key properties include very high melting point (>1800°C), excellent high-temperature strength retention, and good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures; titanium additions promote intermetallic precipitation for additional strengthening. Investigated applications include high-temperature structural applications, advanced gas turbine components, nuclear energy systems, and refractory coating materials.
