This high-entropy alloy (HEA) with nominal composition B0.035 Co0.207 Cr0.207 Fe1 Mn0.621 is a predominantly face-centered cubic (FCC) austenitic alloy system within the multi-principal element alloy research space, incorporating B, Co, Cr and 2 additional elements. Key properties include good strength-ductility balance, high fracture toughness especially at cryogenic temperatures, and moderate corrosion resistance; trace boron segregates to grain boundaries improving high-temperature ductility. Investigated applications include cryogenic structural components, alloy design research platforms, and high-entropy coating systems.
