Overview

AA 2014 is a high-strength aluminium–copper alloy carrying 3.9–5.0% copper with silicon, manganese, and magnesium that give it a strong precipitation-hardening response in the T6 temper. It reaches some of the highest strength levels available in aluminium, but shares the lower corrosion resistance typical of copper-bearing 2xxx grades. Where strength dominates the design, it appears in aircraft structural members, forgings, truck frames, and heavy-duty machine parts.
