Overview
AA 2519 is an aluminium–copper–magnesium alloy developed for military armour, offering good ballistic resistance together with weldability uncommon among high-strength 2xxx grades. Roughly 5.3–6.4% copper, with manganese and zirconium additions, contributes both to high strength and to spall resistance. The alloy is used in armoured-vehicle hulls, combat-vehicle panels, and other protective military structures.
