Family: Aluminum Alloy
Magnesium-Silicon Alloy (Al-Mg-Si). AA designation 6201.
Overview
AA 6201 is an aluminium–magnesium–silicon alloy developed for high-strength electrical conductor wire, offering more strength than 1350 electrical-conductor aluminium while keeping adequate conductivity. Drawn as continuous rod and artificially aged to the T81 temper, it resists sag under sustained load. Its main role is in overhead transmission conductors, particularly all-aluminium-alloy conductor (AAAC) power lines.

Description
AA 6201 is an aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy developed specifically for high-strength electrical conductor wire, offering higher strength than 1350 (EC aluminum) while maintaining adequate electrical conductivity. It achieves T81 temper strength through continuous rod drawing and artificial aging, providing resistance to sag under sustained load. The alloy is used in overhead electrical transmission conductors, particularly AAAC (All-Aluminum Alloy Conductor) overhead power lines.
