Overview
AA 7005 is a medium-strength, weldable aluminium–zinc–magnesium alloy (about 4.0–5.0% Zn, 1.0–1.8% Mg) with manganese and zirconium additions, notable for recovering its full T53 temper strength by natural ageing after welding, without a separate heat treatment. It extrudes well and resists corrosion in marine environments. These traits make it popular for bicycle frames, sporting goods, railroad-car structures, and welded marine fabrications.
