Overview
Formulated for parts that run hot, AA 4032 is a high-silicon aluminium alloy of about 12.2% silicon with copper, magnesium, and nickel additions. The silicon gives excellent wear resistance and lowers the coefficient of thermal expansion, which helps maintain tight piston-to-cylinder clearances at temperature. It is forged into automotive and aircraft engine pistons, cylinder liners, and other thermal-management components.
