Overview
AA 6061 is the most versatile and widely used aluminium alloy across industry, built on magnesium (0.8–1.2%) and silicon (0.4–0.8%) that combine as Mg2Si precipitates to give strong T6-temper properties. It offers a well-rounded mix of strength, corrosion resistance, machinability, weldability, and formability at moderate cost. That balance carries it into aerospace structures, automotive components, marine hardware, bicycle frames, consumer electronics, and general structural fabrication.
