Overview

AA 4004 is an aluminium–silicon–magnesium brazing alloy (9–10.2% Si, 1.0–2.0% Mg) used as a filler for vacuum and controlled-atmosphere brazing of aluminium assemblies. Its high silicon content lowers the melting point to form a eutectic that flows into tight joints at brazing temperature. This makes it a standard cladding and filler in automotive heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and aerospace brazed assemblies.
