Description
AA 7039 is a weldable high-strength aluminum-zinc-magnesium alloy (~3.5–4.5% Zn, 2.3–3.3% Mg) with zinc and magnesium content balanced to allow welding without sensitization to stress corrosion cracking. It achieves T64 temper through controlled artificial aging and offers significantly higher strength than 5083 in welded structural applications. Primary uses include armored military vehicle hulls, structural armor plates, and welded high-strength structural components.
