Description
AA 7475 is a high-purity, damage-tolerant version of 7075 with tightly controlled iron and silicon contents that minimize large insoluble constituent particles, resulting in outstanding fracture toughness and fatigue crack growth resistance in T7351 or T651 temper. It sacrifices some ultimate strength compared to 7075 in favor of significantly superior damage tolerance. Applications include fuselage skin panels, lower wing skins, and structural components in commercial aircraft where fatigue life is the primary design driver.
