Family: Aluminum Alloy
Pure Aluminum (99%+ Al). AA designation 1050.
Overview
AA 1050 is a commercially pure aluminium grade with at least 99.5% aluminium and only trace silicon and iron. Purity gives it excellent corrosion resistance, high electrical and thermal conductivity, and good formability, at the cost of relatively low mechanical strength. As a 1xxx-series alloy it is non-heat-treatable and gains what strength it has from cold work. These characteristics steer it toward chemical storage tanks, food-contact equipment, electrical conductors, and reflective surfaces, where conductivity and corrosion behaviour matter more than load-bearing capacity.
