AA 2017 is a classic aluminum-copper-magnesium alloy (3.5–4.5% Cu) and one of the earliest high-strength aluminum alloys, known as 'Duralumin' variants. It achieves high strength through natural aging to T4 temper and offers good machinability. The alloy is used in aircraft fuselage skins, screw machine products, rivets, and structural bolts.
